HHDF Zambia Camp Manager Sax Botha

My name is Sax Botha. I am a Zambian citizen of 32 years living in Dumisa Village, Chief Chinyaku Chiefdom, Chipata, Eastern Province of Zambia. After completing grade 12 in 1991 I was invited to take part in the Soil Conservation and Forestry Management Group under SCAFE/SIDA which included responsibility as Camp Manager and education through SCAFE courses. In 1996 I was chosen to participate in SCAFE study tour in Malawi and in 1998 SCAFE sponsored my participation in the training course “Practical Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture” (PISA) in Zimbabwe.  During year 2000 I participated in a one week Study Tour on Range and Pasture Management in Tanzania and during the years 2001-2004 I was appointed as Acting Camp Extension Officer for Kayoozi Camp.

I am since 2005 Camp Manager for Human Health Development Foundation – HHDF - in Chief Chinyaku Chiefdom. HHDF has initiated a Pilot Camp for the 5 step program in Chief Chinyaku Chiefdom where I have the duties to implement the program and interest the villagers in the different steps of the program and also inform people from outside on the advancement of the program.  I also have the responsibility to handle the further education in the camp being in charge of the workshops, demonstrations and trainings in the HHDF camp. I also am responsible for making the HHDF merchandise available on the market and that the economical inputs of the program are correctly managed.

Besides this I have the responsibility for the management of the HHDF Child Pre- and Adult School with the motto: A GOOD FOUNDATION IS THE PREREQUISITE FOR QUALITY EDUCATION.

Finally it is my responsibility to see to that the communication is done smoothly between the Chiefs, Headmen, Village Community, Ministries and the very people on the grass root level in the villages were we act with our HHDF three step program.
